Official says govt to welcome faster decrease of key rate

WASHINGTON, Oct 21 (PRIME) -- The Russian government will welcome a faster key rate reduction by the central bank, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said on the sidelines of a meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) on October 19.

“We will surely only welcome this. Because there are conditions. This year’s inflation will be lower than we planned. We say that it will be 3.5–3.6%. Our basic forecast for the next year is 3%, the target forecast close to 4%,” Siluanov said.

Chairwoman of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina said earlier that the central bank can not only continue to reduce the interest rate but do this stronger.
